AMZCO Construction is seeking a Plant Operator to cover a new Anaerobic Digestion plant near Reading, Berkshire.

Background: The plant employs a natural process, whereby, plant materials (Biomass) is received and processed from the local agricultural community. The bio-mass is broken down by micro-organisms in the absence of air, producing a methane rich gas(biogas), reducing fossil fuel usage and the reduction of greenhouse gases. The Biogas is then exported to the grid.

Role: The Plant Operator is a multi-disciplined role, involving all facets of operations. Primary responsibility, for conducting daily activities allocated by the Plant Manager and acting in the higher role during periods of absenteeism, ensuring delivery of outputs in a timely manner ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained at all times.

Duties:

  • Undertake “operator” duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the plant and associated processes.
  • Undertake daily site monitoring including environmental performance.
  • Undertake processes iaw mentoring and requirements detailed in SOP’s.
  • Undertake biological sampling and recording of process parameters.
  • Operate MHE iaw training and advise Plant Manager of any other training needs to promote personal development.
  • Provide a timely response, out of hours, to any abnormal or emergency event.
  • To work in a harmonious manner with the neighbouring Farm staff, adjacent business owners and local residents.
  • Daily/weekly allocation of work and rotas to other staff. The provision of a documented handover brief, on return of permanent Plant Manager.
  • Provision of adequate supervision and monitoring the quality of work undertaken by team members.
  • Measuring operational performance and providing management information (including performance indicators) to Board Members and the Client weekly.
  • Procurement of materials to ensure the efficacy of the plant and minimise any shortfalls in processing/production.

Responsibility: Responsible to the Plant Manager/MD (during periods of absence).

Skills and Qualification: First Aid qualified or a willingness to attain a first aid qualification. Appreciation of Confined Space working, working at height and working in potentially explosive atmospheres would be beneficial. Training needs as identified in the Amzco Skills Plan are expected to be obtained within 3 years.

Special Requirements: The natureof the rolerequires that on occasions you may have to work beyond normal working hours and or respond during silent hours to effect repairs. The nature of the role necessitates a high level of autonomy on the part of the postholder.

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
